Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Insanity has gone well this week, despite the very early AM wake-ups, but once I’m up and going it’s not that bad. I definitely feel more energized throughout the day, however, around 8pm, I definitely get sleepy! It’s so hard to go to bed that early, but I may be at a minimum moving my bedtime from 10pm to 9pm on weeknights in order to get the sleep my body is subtly telling me it needs. Overall, it feels good to be motivated again and successfully get my workout plan completed. There has been no major shift in the scale as of yet, but I know that with consistency it will happen. My main focus this week was just to get back on board with Insanity workouts. Next week, I plan to be more focused around eating and sticking to a clean meal prep plan. I haven’t been terrible this week or anything, as I do already eat pretty healthy, but there will definitely need to be some cutting back on things.
The Barre Code is getting really close to opening and I’m so excited. I will be the kids’ room attendant on Monday nights (for two classes total) and it’s in exchange for a free membership! Couldn’t turn down that deal! I still hope one day to teach, but I wanted to get familiar with their class formats by taking class for a while before auditioning. If you are in the Charleston/Mount Pleasant, SC area, you MUST try out this barre studio. There is a great mix of classes, childcare offered and a larger workout room than most traditional barre studios offer. Preview week (free classes – no childcare offered) is May 15-21. The studio officially opens for business the following week.
School is out and the final grades came in – I aced both classes! I am so glad this first year back is done. I am so ready for the break. Originally, I wanted to take a class or two in the summer, but I think that ultimately it was the right decision to take a summer break. I want to enjoy my family during this season. Working full-time during the summer when you have kids is enough of a drag. I wanted to be sure I could make the most of their summer with plenty of beach and pool days.
Boeing does an annual steps competition called Boeing on the Move and it started this week. I have taken my Fitbit out of the drawer and put it back to use. I forgot I actually love this thing. It’s addictive to try and hit the 10,000 steps per day goal. Though with Insanity and the extra walking I’m doing on my breaks at work (1 mile per break), I’ve been racking up around 20,000 steps per day. Every little bit adds up…hoping to see some progress with weight loss and toning soon!
In honor of Cinco de Mayo, I found this great skinny margarita recipe. I love using coconut water in cocktails (I make a great skinny pina colada!)
That’s all for today – Have a great weekend!
